DATE OF PUBLICATION IN INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER: 12 October 2012
(INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER NO. 30)
Mrs B L Abrahams (DA-Gauteng) to ask the Minister of Health:
Whether any plans are in place to build a clinic at the old age home in
Eldorado Park in Gauteng; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant
details?
CW697E
REPLY:
No, there are no plans to build clinics at old age homes in the Gauteng
Province. The
district has built clinics where the service will benefit all residents of
Johannesburg within their reach and in line with national guideline of 5 km
radius. The old age home in question is a residential home and not a Frail
Care Centre, thus most of its residents attend clinics in the vicinity such
as Kliptown and Eldorado Park Extension 9 clinics which are less than 2 km
away from the home. The nurse from Kliptown clinic does home visits to all
patients around the catchment area to assess their need for services (DNS).
END.
