REPLY:
The NYDA did not make any financial contribution towards the costs of the
March between Johannesburg and Pretoria, which took place on the 27th and
28th October 2011.
The said march addressed the issues of economic participation and
development for South African youth, which are in keeping with the NYDA
objectives, as captured in the NYDA Act 54 of 2008. The Youth March raised
salient issues on youth development including calling for the:
⢠Strengthening and capitalisation of youth development programmes,
⢠Employment and training of young people and
⢠Provision of opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
In view of the above, the NYDA issued a press statement on the 24th of
September 2011 supporting the march and clarified that it will not be
making any financial contribution to the march.
