REPLY:
In order to fulfil the mandate of the Department of Higher Education and
Training, it is required of the Deputy Minister and myself to engage with
various stakeholders in all nine provinces of the country and on occasion
travel abroad. If these engagements are outside the area of our usual place
of residence, Ministers and Deputy Ministers can be accommodated in hotels
befitting their office requirements as outlined in relevant policies.
As part of this request from the Honourable Member relates to officially
sanctioned hotel bookings for workshops, seminars, oversight visits,
attendance of parliament and meetings in the 2013/14 financial year which
was recently audited by the Auditor-General, information for this period
could be made available after the Annual Report is presented to Parliament
in September 2014 and published for the general public. Information
relating to the 2014/15 period, once audited will also be made available at
the relevant time.
