REPLY:
(1-2) The Department of Home Affairs has met with National Treasury and the
Department of Public Service and Administration respectively, to consult on
the draft Business Case for the Border Management Agency (BMA). Work is
currently underway on a draft Business Case where relevant Departments are
being consulted. The Business Case will make concrete proposals on the
recruitment and appointment of personnel for the BMA. The Business Case
will be supported by the Expenditure and Performance Review (EPR) which is
currently underway. The EPR seeks to determine the cost implications for
the BMA and will subsequently inform the budgetary and financial
allocations to the BMA and the organisational structure of the Entity.
(3). It is envisaged for the Border Management Agency (BMA) to be
operational in 2017.
