(1) Will the proposed office of the housing ombudsman be established in terms of any legislation; if not, how will the specified office be governed; if so, which legislation; (2) whether the specified office will only monitor the implementation of all policies; if not, what will the housing ombudsman’s mandate be; if so, how will this be reconciled with an ombudsman’s conventional role of addressing public complaints of maladministration; (3) will the specified office be independent from her department; if not, why not; if so, (a) what level of independence will the housing ombudsman have and (b) how will its independence be ensured; (4) what powers will the specified office have to fulfil its mandate; (5) (a) what will be the cost of establishing the specified office and (b) will it be financed from her department’s current budget; if not, where will the funds be sourced from; if so, from which programme?
