REPLY:
No police reservists have been recruited since the moratorium on reservists
had been lifted by the Minister of Police. The SAPS are currently
reviewing the reservist systems and to adopt new enhanced criteria for the
selection, recruitment and utilization of reservists in order to address
shortcomings that were identified as part of the former reservist system.
The Ministry of Police is also reviewing policy regarding this matter and
the systems will need to speak to this policy.
