1. The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) is responsible for the payment of municipal charges in respect of the mentioned Municipalities and the following reply is provided from the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) perspective:
(a)(i) The DCS does not owe the Walter Sisulu Municipality any amount, due to the fact that the account holder is DPWI.
(a)(ii) The DCS does not owe the Senqu Municipality any amount, due to the fact that the account holder is DPWI.
(b)(ii) The DCS does not manage the age analysis, due to the fact that the account holder is DPWI.
2. (a) The DCS does not owe the Walter Sisulu Municipality and the Senqu Municipality any amount, and therefore not in a position to reply on behalf of DPWI regarding specific details of the relevant buildings.
(b) The DCS does not owe the Walter Sisulu Municipality and the Senqu Municipality any amount, and therefore not in a position to reply on behalf of DPWI regarding the use of each specified building.
3. The DCS engages the DPWI on a regular basis regarding the settlement of municipal charges in order to limit the risk of possible suspension of municipal services.
(a) As mentioned in reply number 2, supra, the DCS does not owe the Walter Sisulu Municipality and the Senqu Municipality any amount, and therefore not in a position to reply on behalf of DPWI regarding the details of the plan to settle amounts indebted.
(b) As mentioned in reply number 2, supra, the DCS does not owe the Walter Sisulu Municipality and the Senqu Municipality any amount, and therefore not in a position to reply on behalf of DPWI regarding the time frame in which any possible debts will be settled.
