126. Mr R A Lees (DA-KZN) to ask the Minister of Mineral Resources:
Whether an investigation has been or is being done into the impact that
climate change is having on the marine mining activities between Port
Nolloth and the Orange River Mouth; if not, why not; if so, (a) what are
the detailed results of such investigation and (b) what action is being
taken or planned to ensure that the communities in the area are not
negatively impacted upon?
REPLY:
The Department of Mineral Resources does not regulate climate change issues
and therefore has not done such an investigation.
