Mrs E C van Lingen (DA-EC) to ask the Minister of Mineral Resources:
What is the value of the (a) 90.3 carat and (b) 6.1 carat (pink)
diamonds sold by a certain company (name furnished) on behalf of a
certain group (name furnished) in the 2004-05 financial year? CW289E
Reply
The Department of Mineral Resources has established a regulatory
framework that requires monthly registers of trade of diamonds between
and among all parties that trade such parcels in the country. This
information is used to monitor and evaluate the trade of diamonds in
the country.
The information is classified and the department is not in a position
to release it to a third party.
