212.Mr D J Stubbe (DA) to ask the Minister of Police:
How many persons have been arrested for the illegal possession of
explosives in the 2012-13 financial year?

REPLY:
SAPS in compiling statistics do not keep specific statistics on persons
charge regarding illegal explosives
However, it needs to be pointed out that a number of criminals involved in
illegal use and trade in explosives can be charged under a number of
different offences some of these include:
Illegal possession of explosives
Illegal manufacturing of explosives
Illegal trading of explosives
Illegal use of explosives
In addition, the criminals involved in explosives such at ATM bombing can
also be charge with, armed robbery, murder, theft and malicious damage to
property depending on what occurs during the criminal act.
