1049. Mrs A Steyn (DA) to ask the Minister of Rural Development and Land
Reform:
Whether any employee in his department or that employeeâs spouse has
benefitted from any of the land reform programmes; if so, (a) how many
staff members, (b) in what way and (c) what was the total cost per
transaction? NW1309E
THE MINISTER OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND LAND REFORM:
Yes.
(a) Six.
(b) One employee was a claimant representing his family in a
community claim comprising 199 households that was settled by way of
a restoration award. The remaining five employees received financial
compensation in settlement of their land claims in terms of the
Restitution of Land Rights Act, 1994 (Act No 22 of 1994).
(c) The total cost for each transaction was as follows:
- In respect of the community claim comprising 199 households,
the award to the community consisted of 5 hectares of land and
the pro rata share of the development grant to the claimant
amounted to R4 440.00;
- R11 400.00;
- R51 639.74;
- R15 555.56;
- R17 700.00; and
- R8 333.34.
