Mr M Mnqasela DA) to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:
(1) What total amount in respect of advertising has her department and
all specified entities reporting to it (a) budgeted for and (b) spent
(i) in the 2008-09 financial year and (ii) during the period 1 April
2009 up to the latest specified date for which information is
available;
2) (a) what total number of advertisements for her department and each
entity reporting to it (i) appeared in the print media and (ii) were
broadcast on (aa) radio and (bb) television, (b) how much did each
advertisement cost and (c) what was the purpose of each advertisement?

DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS:
(1)(a)(i) An amount of R10,300,000.00 was budgeted for in the 2008/09
financial year.
(1)(a)(ii) An amount of R3,400,000.00 was budgeted for in the 2009/10
financial year.
(1)(b)(i) An amount of R10,471,220.01 was spent in 2008/09.
(1)(b)(ii) An amount of R1,586,679.00 was spent from 1 April 2009 up to
and including 31 October 2009.

INDEPENDENT ELECTORAL COMMISSION (IEC):
(1)(a)(i) An amount of R59,500,000.00 was budgeted for in the 2008/09
financial year.
(1)(a)(ii) An amount of R19,500,000.00 was budgeted for in the 2009/10
financial year.
(1)(b)(i) An amount of R64,633,126.00 was spent in 2008/09.
(1)(b)(ii) An amount of R16,700,000.00 was spent from 1 April 2009 up to
and including 10 December 2009.
(2) The information to be supplied is voluminous. It can be made
available separately at the request of the Honourable Member.
FILM AND PUBLICATION BOARD (FPB):
(1)(a)(i) An amount of R408,195.00 was budgeted for in the 2008/09
financial year.
(1)(a)(ii) An amount of R1,250,000.00 was budgeted for in the 2009/10
financial year.
(1)(b)(i) An amount of R248,245.00 was spent in 2008/09.
(1)(b)(ii) An amount of R919,106.68 was spent from 1 April 2009 up to and
including 30 November 2009.
