(1) What (a) total amount has been spent on the (i) public emergency communications centres and (ii) implementation of the 112 emergency number, as described in the Electronic Communications Act, Act 36 of 2005 and (b) was the money spent on; (2) what is the current status of the pilot call centre facility in the Strand in the Western Cape; (3) (a) on what date did the pilot project start and (b) for how long was the pilot project operational; (4) what were the lessons learnt from the pilot project; (5) whether there are any long term plans to implement the 112 emergency number throughout the country; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
