Mr H B Groenewald (DA NW) to ask the Minister of Transport:
In respect of road works in the North West in the 2011-12 financial
year (a) how many contractors received contracts from the Government,
(b) what are the names of these contractors, (c) what work did each
contract entail, (d) on what (i) roads and (ii) regions did the road
works take place and (e) what is the date of completion of each
contract? CW154E

3. THE WRITTEN REPLY
The Minister of Transport
In respect of road works in the North West province during the 2011-12
financial year, contracts were awarded to contractors by both the
South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) and the
Department of Transport. The following information is provided:
3.1.
a) Twelve (12) contractors received contracts from the South
African National Roads Agency Limited;
b) The names of these contractors are:
1) Quality Plant Hire Joint Venture;
2) Expectra 388;
3) VZ Joint Venture;
4) Fezumbono Construction;
5) Vukuzenzela Construction;
6) Midfran;
7) Your Trade 953;
8) Tarman North West;Â
9) Multilayer;
10) N1 Construction;
11) Ketane; and
12) BRBF.
(c) The contractors do routine road maintenance, namely: â
Accommodation of traffic, pavement layer repairs, crack sealing
and patching, cleaning of drainage structures, removal of
refuse, fencing, road signs, guardrails, mowing of grass and
herbicides, eradication of undesirable vegetation, emergency
road assistance, minor repairs to structures, removal of
abandoned vehicles and line markings.
(d)(i) The routine road maintenance is taking place on the N12,
N14, N18, R24, R30, R34, R49, R52, R53, R54, R500, R501, R503,
R504, R505, R510, R511, R512, R556 and R565 roads.
(d)(ii) The contracts awarded for routine road maintenance during
the 2011-12 financial year applies to the Ngaka Modiri Molema,
Dr Kenneth Kaunda and the Bojanala District municipalities.
 (e)     The end date for all the above-mentioned contracts is on
the 30thof April 2014.
3.2.
a) Ten (10) contractors received seventeen (17) contracts from the
Department of Transport
b) The names of these contractors are:
1) Y Man Ventures;
2) Moseme Road Construction;
3) Roucomm Systems;
4) Oryks Construction;
5) Dikqwetlo Trading;
6) Leviero Civil Engineering;
7) Tshenolo Resources;
8) Jodan Construction;Â
9) Downtouch Investments;
10) Bokgaitsadi NW Facilitators;

c) The contractors do routine road maintenance, namely: â
Accommodation of traffic, pavement layer repairs, crack sealing

road assistance, minor repairs to structures, removal of

(d)(i) The routine road maintenance is taking place on the
following roads P117/1, P115/1, D3459, D212, D548, Z533, Z550,
D330, D3535, D327, Z617, P34/2, P34/3, P34/5, P34/6, P34/7 and
P34/8
(d)(ii) The contracts awarded for routine road maintenance during
the 2011-12 financial year applies to the Ngaka Modiri Molema,
Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati, and the Bojanala District
municipalities.
(e)Â Â Â Â Â The end date for all the above-mentioned contracts is 31st
of March 2013 in the exception of Liviero Civil Engineering
which is to be completed on 15th of June 2013. A contract with
Downtouch Investments for the Rehabilitation of Road P34/2 from
Koster to Lichtenburg (km 33.0 to 83.77) was cancelled
