The Department of Police, Roads and Transport, Free State Province has
furnished the following in respect of parts (2) and (3) of the
Question:

|2009/2010 |31 |
⪠13 cases are still pending.
(3)(a)

⪠Total amount pending: R19019 838.56
(b) According to the Department of Police, Roads and Transport in the
Free
State, the successes for the payment of the claims were because the
Department was at fault by not maintaining the roads
properly eg. potholes
not fixed, no sufficient road signs or obsolete road signs.  These
were the factors, in most cases, that led to the success of each
claim against the State.
