REPLY:
1) (a) Number and (b) percentage of candidates that achieved the
requirements for passing the examinations for the (i) N4, (ii) N5 and
(iii) N6 levels of the Nated 191 programmes offered at Further
Education and Training Colleges in 2010:

(2) Trends in the (a) number or (b) pass rate of candidates, and (i)
the nature of these trends and (ii) action has been taken:
(a)(b)(i) The trends in the number or pass rate of candidates have remained
consistently low across the two Nated programmes across the last 3 years.
This is attributed to the fact that Nated candidates can sit for
examinations across several examination sessions in completing an N
certificate.
(a)(b)(ii) The Department is in the process of reviewing the qualifications
offered at FET Colleges with a view to streamlining and strengthening the
current offerings and to align these to the skills needs of the country. A
ministerial task team has been appointed to oversee this process.
