(1) In light of her reply to question 400 on 10 March 2010, what steps is her department taking against mining companies who do not comply with the provisions of the National Environmental Management Amendment Act, Act 62 of 2008, with regard to decanting water from the (a) Wesselton Mine (b) Coastal Fuels mines, (c) Sumo Colliery and (d) Umlaba Colliery (details furnished); (2) whether the Eerstelingsfontein mine is decanting water; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, what are the relevant details; (3) what steps are being taken to ensure that the mines are prevented from decanting water into the natural water systems and rivers?
