1251. THE MINISTER OF WATER AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS ANSWERS:
1) SAWS is established in terms of the South African Weather Service Act
of 2001 and is listed as a National Public Entity under Schedule 3A of
the Public Finance Management Act, as per the General Notice 2302 of
30 November 2001.
2) It is not clear who is the person referred to on the 2nd part of the
question. Nonetheless, most if not all the people who were there at
the time are no longer in the employ of SAWS. SAWS has also earlier
today, delivered to the Ministerâs Office, a file responding to the
recent Enquiry by Mr Gareth Morgan, MP on related issues.
