(1) Whether, in light of the fact that (a) the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) is obliged by section 181(5) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, to report to the National Assembly on its activities and performance once a year and (b) the CGE’s budget formed part of Vote 8: Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities in the Estimates of National Expenditure in February 2014, her Ministry is responsible for oversight and ensuring that the CGE accounts to Parliament; if not, why not; if so, (2) what (a) projects, (b) legal cases and (c) investigations of complaints is the CGE currently pursuing; (3) (a) how many (i) full-time and (ii) part-time positions at the CGE are currently filled and (b) how many vacancies does the institution have; (4) (a) what long-term projects is the CGE currently undertaking and (b) what is each project’s expected date of completion; Friday, 18 September 2015 1329 INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER: NATIONAL ASSEMBLY NO 38 - 2015 (5) (a) has the CGE considered or (b) will the CGE consider doing an audit of all national legislation pertaining to (i) women and (ii) the promotion of gender equality with the goal of (aa) streamlining the specified pieces of legislation and (bb) preventing an overlap and/or gaps in legislation?
