Ms Oliphant served as Minister of Labour (2014 - 2019). She holds a Certificate in Macroeconomics and a Certificate in Project Management. She has been Member of Parliament since 1994 and regional convener of the ANC's Women's League. She has served as Chairperson of various Parliamentary Committees including Public Services, Land and Environmental Affairs, Joint Rules, Joint Programme and Joint Ethics and Members' Interest.
