Mr President, while we commend the commitment of an additional R1,1 billion to the fight against gender-based violence, this money will mean nothing if police cannot gather critical evidence. Two weeks ago, the Police Minister Cele missed his own deadline for ensuring that police stations in the country have rape kits. It was revealed that 76% of our police station didn't have adult rape kits; and 69% did not have child rape kits.
Earlier this month, you vowed personally to ensure that this injustice is rectified. Mr President, women in this country are living in a warzone. How do you explain the
spectacular failure by your government to keep women safe and to prosecute those who commit these crimes against them?
