Included in Parliament's budget are medical aid contributions for former members and provincial legislatures, as well as transfers to political parties represented in Parliament. Parliament is of the view that this should be budgeted for elsewhere, because they distort the budget of Parliament. Engagement with the President as Head of State and the Minister of Finance is ongoing with a view to addressing this further. We must also endeavour to maintain clean audits in the Sixth Parliament as we have done in the Fifth Parliament, and we look forward to working with the Joint Standing Committee on the financial management of Parliament.
