Following on the presentations and after extensive deliberation, the Committee resolved that the NMBM should: 1. Provide the Committee with full details of the consultants who provided the second Record of Decision on the Fitch's Corner EIA. 2. Provide the readiness of sites for development and installation of infrastructure with detailed life span or timeframes of each project. The progress report should be presented in July 2012. 3. Ensure that the bucket system was eradicated in all informal settlements and it should implement innovative sanitation solutions. 4. Prioritise the re-allocation of families at the New Brighton dumping site (tip) as they were exposed to health hazards. 5. Consider implementing high-rise buildings due to the shortage of suitable land for housing delivery. 6. Provide information on the upgrading of hostels and Community Residential Units (CRUs). 7. Report on the unemployment rate and measures in place to address that challenge. 8. Consider approaching the Department of Public Works through the Extended Public Works Programme and the Department of Transport through the Sihambasonke fund when it needed to build access roads in new projects. The Committee emphasised the importance of improved collaboration between the NMBM and the province in the planning process for cost-effective and efficient resource utilisation and alignment of plans.
