Chairperson, the ANC would like once more to express its support for this budget vote and believes that the legislative framework that is in place enables the people of South Africa and workers of South Africa to enjoy the rights that they have worked so hard for. We also believe that the interventions such as sectoral determination and affirmative action, which has not even begun to be implemented to change the imbalances of the past, are still far away from being removed. We therefore believe that this Budget Vote is going to enable the Department of Labour to deal with the challenges such as the shortage of skills and job creation, which is very important in our country. We also want to recognise the role that has been played by the Department of Labour internationally, testimony of which is by the appointment of the Minister of Labour as the chairman of the ILO recently. We support this Budget Vote. [Applause.]
