2657. Mr N J van den Berg (DA) to ask the Minister of Trade and Industry:
(1) Whether any performance bonuses were paid to employees in his
department in the 2012-13 financial year; if so, what is the
total (a) number of employees that received bonuses and (b)
amount paid out by his department for these bonuses;
(2) what percentage of outputs were achieved by his department as
measured against each target set in its Annual Performance Plan
in the 2012-13 financial year? NW3146E
Reply:
(1) Yes.
(a) Performance Bonuses were paid to 334 employees during the
2012/2013 financial year.
(b) The amount paid out during the 2012/2013 financial year is R
9,515,000.
(2) The department in its Annual Performance Plan in the 2012-13
planned 56 targets and had a 64 % achievement rate against the
strategic outputs. 36 % of planned targets were recorded as not
being fully achieved; however significant progress was made
towards achieving the said targets, as is captured in the Annual
Report 2012/13.
