QUESTION NO 343
DATE OF PUBLICATION IN INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER: 8 MARCH 2013
(INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER NO 6-2013)
Date reply submitted: 15 April 2013
343. Ms D Kohler-Barnard (DA) to ask the Minister of Police:
Why was a certain person (name and details furnished), who was injured in
the line of duty in Pretoria in 2003, never medically boarded?
NW489E
REPLY:
An employee is only eligible for medical boarding if such employee suffers
from a medical/psychological illness which renders him/her permanently and
totally disabled for own occupation or alternative occupation. Sgt M J
Fickâs illness did not meet the aforesaid criteria as the evaluation by an
independent Health Risk Manager found that he had the potential to perform
duties of alternative occupation.
