Mrs S P Kopane (DA) to ask the Minister of Health:
(1) Whether any new health facilities have been built during the period
27 August 1994 up to 31 May 2009; if so, (a) how many, (b) where are
they situated, (c) what type of facility are they, (d) how many beds
does each facility have, (e) what was the cost of building each
facility, (f) which company won the tender to build each facility and
(g) what was the initial date of (i) commencement and (ii) completion
for each facility;
(2) whether any of these health facilities were not completed on time; if
so, in each case, (a) which facilities, (b) what were the reasons for
not meeting the set completion date, (c) what was the final completion
date, (d) what penalties were imposed on each company and (e) what was
the additional cost to the taxpayer;
(3) whether the tenders for the building of new health facilities had to
be re-issued; if so, in each case, (a) which tender, (b) why, (c) what
was the additional cost to the taxpayer, (d) who was awarded the
tender and (e) when was the facility completed;
(4) what was the total cost of the (a) construction and (b) equipping of
each health facility?

REPLY:
The Honourable Member is referred to the answer we gave to Question 1263
asked by Honourable More, because our Hospital Revitalisation model also
entail building these facilities.
