2154. THE MINISTER OF TOURISM ANSWERS:
In general the tourism sector offers low barriers to entry for tourism
entrepreneurs. Once a tourism business becomes operational, the business
will have to comply with regulations that apply to operationalising a
business in any other sector. These regulations pertain to certain by-laws
such as health and safety, public liability and zoning. The Tourism
Enterprise Partnership (TEP) does however assist some 4Â 300 tourism
entrepreneurs to access the tourism industry and to develop and grow their
businesses. The assistance provided includes business advice, skills
development and training, mentorship, market access and access to funding.
