QUESTION 2033
INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER [No 19-2010]
DATE OF PUBLICATION:Â 6 August 2010
2033. Ms D Carter (Cope) to ask the Minister of Rural Development and Land
Reform:
Whether the Government was giving priority to each qualified occupier of
land in a rural area to get a title deed expeditiously and without
intricate formalities; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant
details? NW2372E
THE MINISTER OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND LAND REFORM:
Yes. Each application is assessed on its own merit in terms of relevant
land reform policies. The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform
is the owner of land acquired under the land redistribution programme and
no longer awards title to qualifying beneficiaries. The land is therefore
registered in the name of the State and qualifying beneficiaries are given
leasehold.
