INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER NO 28 OF 2009
Mr G R Morgan (DA) to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:
(1) (a) With reference to your reply to Question 1299 on 14 October 2009,
what were the findings of the disciplinary hearings of the (i)
offender and (ii) head of the office, (b) what sanction was handed out
to each official and (c) what are the (i) names and (ii) designations
of departmental officials that presided over the hearing;
2) whether the outcome of the hearing will be communicated to the
(a) public and (b) other staff at that office; if not, why not; if so,
what are the relevant details?

REPLY
(1)(a)(i) & (ii) Both officials were found guilty of misconduct.
(1)(b) The sanction in both cases was dismissal.
(1)(c)(i) & (ii) The two cases were presided over by officials of the
Department who are Deputy Directors. The names may be provided
to the Member on request.
(2) Yes.
(2)(a) An announcement was made in the National Media on
10 November 2009.
(2)(b) The officials concerned, as well as, other officials stationed
at the office, were formally informed of the outcome of the
hearings, before the public announcement by the Departmentâs
Chief Directorate: Labour Relations and Compliance.
