REPLY:
1. Question (1) and (2) refers as follows: All officials who may be able
to answer the question have been suspended by South African Sports
Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC).
2. Attempts to ascertain the facts from ASA following the IAAF Berlin
Championships proved to be unsuccessful. To this end the department
fully supported the intervention by SASCOCâs Legal and Arbitration
Committee into the matter and the department further endorsed the
decision of SASCOC to suspend the board and officials of ASA.
3. The National Sport and Recreation Act as Amended, (2007) places the
responsibility on SASCOC to resolve issues involving National
Federations and the matter was handled accordingly.
