NW664E
REPLY:
a) (i) The Independent Complaints Directorate has nine (9) Monitors, one
in each province, to perform police station audits and cell
inspections across the country (ii) Five hundred and seventy eight
(578) police stations nationwide were audited and inspected in the
2008/09 financial year and (b) Statistics of non-compliance are used
to identify which stations should be prioritised in audits. In some
cases, members of the public complain about specific stations and
these are then put on the list of stations to be audited.
