203. Mr D J Maynier (DA) to ask the Minister of Defence and Military
Veterans:
(1) Whether, with reference to her statement, dated 6 July 2013, on
the procurement of aircraft to transport Very Very Important
Persons (VVIPs), a new procurement process has been embarked
upon for the air transportation of VVIPs; if not, why not; if
so, what are the relevant details;
(2) whether a decision has been made in respect of the lease
contract for the air transportation of VVIPs; if not, why not;
if so, what are the relevant details;
(3) what is the (a) total cost and (b) breakdown of such costs of
(i) procuring aircraft and (ii) leasing aircraft for the air
transportation of VVIPs? NW252E
REPLY
(1) Yes.
The need to augment the fleet of VVIP aircraft was registered in
2013; in accordance with the Defence Acquisition Policy (DAP
1000 as amended).
(2) No requirement for a lease contract has been considered.
(3)(i) An estimated cost will only be determined through the DAP
1000 at a later stage.
(ii) No cost breakdown studies or different contracting models
were developed
