QUESTION FOR WRITTEN REPLY
QUESTION NO.: 310
DATE OF PUBLICATION: 01 March 2013
310. Mr N J J van R Koornhof (Cope) to ask the Minister of Public
Enterprises:
Whether the SA Airways has made a profit on all its existing international
routes; if not, which routes are not profitable? NW388E
Reply:
According to South African Airways (SAA):
SAA currently operates to 11 international destinations out of its
Johannesburg hub, O.R Tambo International Airport. The information on
profitability and non-profitability of routes SAA flies cannot be made
public as that will compromise its financial position in highly competitive
environment. However, the international routes contribute in the region of
30% in terms of revenue to both domestic and regional routes.
