Mr Speaker, as part of our Know Your DA campaign, we have distributed more than 2,5 million DA-branded airtime vouchers. We have every right to access paid-for advertising space. It is not surprising that the ANC is quite envious of us since we are reaching voters in every sphere of social life, bringing our message of a better life to all.
The call by the ANC encouraging its members to boycott MTN is fundamentally irresponsible. These are the kinds of bully-boy tactics that the ANC employed in the First National Bank, FNB, advertisement saga earlier this year.
These kinds of threats and intimidation have no place in a democracy where freedom of association and the right to campaign freely are guaranteed by our Constitution. The ANC's call to boycott MTN is a very clear sign that it is panicking about the DA's growing support. [Applause.] No amount of threats and no amounts of intimidation will change the fact that more and more South Africans are choosing the DA over the ANC. The ANC should withdraw its call to boycott MTN without delay.
In the meantime, the DA will continue to tell people the truth. We fought against apartheid then and we are fighting for a better life for all now. [Applause.]
