Deputy Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that each year, on 23 March, the World Meteorological Organisation, its 189 members and the worldwide meteorological community celebrate World Meteorological Day around a chosen theme;
2) further notes that the theme for World Meteorological Day 2013 is: Watching the weather to protect life and property;
3) acknowledges that the theme highlights the reduction of casualties and damage from weather, climate and water-related hazards and at the same time acknowledges the critical roles of weather, climate and water services in powering a sustainable future for us and for generations to come; and
4) calls on all South Africans to join in commemorating this day, which will help them understand the uncertainties and management of risks of weather patterns and to increase their knowledge about how global climate phenomena play out at regional, national and local level.
Agreed to.
