The South African Human Rights Commission had since made an urgent application to court asking for the suspension of the demolition and eviction and also asking the court's permission to grant it 30 days to conduct an investigation into the matter, specifically with regard to the infringement of the constitutional right to dignity of the affected parties. The matter would be heard on 15 November 2012 in the Gauteng South High Court. The outcome of the court case would be communicated to the Portfolio Committee by the department.
