The Committee also engaged with the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) on the youth development programmes that were offered in the Eastern Cape Province. Part of the mandate of the NYDA was to lobby and advocate for integration and mainstreaming of youth development in all spheres of government, private sector and civil society. In light of this, part of the strategic plan of the NYDA was to provide a comprehensive suite of interventions that would lead to decent employment, skills development, education, and entrepreneurship to all young people between ages of 14 to 35. The NYDA received a budgetary allocation of R385 million for the 2012/13 financial year. In the light of the above, the Committee took a decision to go back and revisit the health and education sectors and also to engage the NYDA in the Eastern Cape Province.
