It was very interesting to realise that when the chairperson of the portfolio committee was speaking, most especially on the very important issue of land reform, he touched a raw nerve. You could see that people were very unsettled. Then we have to ask ourselves why this is so. Why is this happening?
Our people are still struggling. They still don't have land. They are still struggling, and we are not the ones to say that we have done or achieved something, because we know that when people work, they make mistakes. You realise your shortcomings. However, you are able to look forward and improve. It is our hope as the ANC that this department is going somewhere, and it is going to improve the lives of the ordinary people. [Applause.]
