Dubai is a lesson in what can be done to create a transport hub literally out of the desert. A decrease of 83,6% in the maritime infrastructure and industry development is a severe indictment on this government. Our coastal areas are heavily inhabited. They are sadly lacking in economic opportunities. As a matter of urgency the department should invite private enterprise to take up the slack and create a viable maritime transport service.
In conclusion, I wish to say that the department has by no means exhausted the innumerable possibilities of job creation in the land, air and sea transport arenas. Millions of our people are out of jobs, yet infrastructure that is already there is not being fully utilised. Thank you. [Time expired.] [Applause.]
