Archives: The archives were in one of the worst state ever seen by Members of the Committee. Papers for inclusion in dockets was pushed under the door for filing, dockets were lying on top of boxes haphazardly, and in some cases boxes of fingerprints and other papers for filing were shoved into a box so tightly that it was almost impossible to actually see what was in there. The person in charge of the archives had phoned in sick that morning but the Station Commander himself admitted that in the current state of the archives it would not have been possible anyway for the person to have retrieved a requested docket from the archives. Clearly bad practice with the archives is the norm. The Members watched a SAPS official enter the archives and take a docket without signing for it. The problem of the Archives has been identified at the Station and they are currently in the process of resorting and rearranging the archives. According to the Station Commander this process should be completed by end September 2011.
