In 2009, the Venezuelan government announced its intention to nationalise Aero Postal, following the arrest of several owners and employees in 2008 due to the drug trafficking case. It was a private company under the surveillance of the courts, with an administrative board administered by the state. It started with small profits, but investments were made on human resource development and the profits improved. The company is now self-sustainable, transparent, efficient and responsible in its operations within the country. It has expanded its destinations to Port of Spain, Bargota as well as other international flights.
