To date the Brazilian government has about 122 SOEs operating in 15 different sectors of the economy, namely electricity, energy and research, nuclear, oil and gas, transportation (ports authority), rail, aviation, finance (banking), information technology, post office services, arms manufacturing, sanitation and communication. There are, however, three sectors that have a significant impact in the country's economy. These are the banking, oil and electricity sectors.
