The labour centre was registering inmates on its database as job seekers who were close to completing their sentences. The labour centre offered short-term employment in the form of a contract. The Sasolburg Unemployment Forum, an NGO, indicated that much needed to be done to create long-term employment. The NGO was negotiating with employers in terms of prioritising youth employment, particularly women.
