The current levels of nutrients in the dam are high due to the incoming and existing pollution (nutrient load) trapped in the sediments. Organic waste from decomposed algae and hyacinths are constantly stirred up by sediment feeding fish such as carp, barbel / catfish and canary curper. The aim of the programme is to re-establish the fish population back to the indigenous and desired fish species such as Mozambique Tilapia, Yellow Fish and other smaller fish.
