Chairperson, I move without notice:
That the Council -
1) notes the statement made by MEC for co-operative governance and traditional affairs, Nomusa Dube, that the KwaZulu-Natal province has the highest backlog in water and sanitation provision, and electrification compared to other provinces;
2) further notes that the MEC has unveiled plans that will see the department, in consultation with municipalities, establish district teams to deal with challenges contributing to the backlog;
3) also notes that the Premier Zweli Mkhize has announced that a team of experts who consist of engineers, planners, architects, project managers and lawyers, has been put together to oversee the provincial government's infrastructure projects in order to ensure that the province drastically improves delivery and contributes to economic growth and job creation in KwaZulu-Natal; and
4) takes this opportunity to welcome these measures being initiated to improve service delivery to our people in KwaZulu-Natal province.
