The revitalisation programme, which will include extension and advisory services to the value of R555 million, is there to improve the ratio of extension officers to farmers. We cannot consistently say that our black farmers have failed. We must send in extension officers who can train them and facilitate their success. This year more than 1 000 extension and advisory officers have been recruited and will be deployed to farmers. If they fail, they will also not receive performance bonuses. Therefore, their performance will be directly linked to the success of the farmers.
