The Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB) is a national public entity that is listed under Schedule 3A of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No. 1 of 1999) (PFMA). The PPECB derives its mandate from the Perishable Products Export Control Act, 1983 (Act No. 9 of 1983) as amended. The mandate of the PPECB is to certify perishable products for quality and safety, apply cold temperature protocols (cold chain) for designated markets, conduct research and provide advice and training. The PPECB aligns its strategies with those of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) with careful attention given to the Medium Term Strategic Framework (MTSF).
