Denel took certain steps between 2007 and 2010 to achieve sustainability. These steps consisted of decentralising Denel's operations, restructuring the company, implementing governance policies, acquiring equity partnerships that provided investment and access to markets, participating in business development and transformation initiatives, disposing of non- core assets and improving programme performance. In the next 18 months to 2012, Denel wanted to become the respected South African provider of innovative defence security and related technologies. Its growth strategy would focus on business development, cost-cutting measures, funding and recapitalisation, and the restructuring of DSA.
