Ms Boyle gave a detailed overview of SAX's performance in the airline industry, especially in the context of the challenges posed by the recent global economic downturn. The fact that the aviation industry is susceptible to slight changes in the economy made 2010 even more challenging for SAX. Companies that were able to weather the aftermath of the global economic meltdown were ones that altered their approach to business and adapted quickly. For SAX, the core focus area over the next few years is keeping ahead of the increasing number of competitors who enter the airlines' industry market. To date, SAX was becoming one of Africa's largest regional airlines. Its main focus is on secondary routes using smaller aircraft, providing feeder services to SAA, as well as servicing lower density routes.
